5 is a piece of cake

I had my sister's three kids for the day and a sleepover. I was a little nervous about how and where the kids were going to sleep but everything went perfectly!

I am so bummed that I don't have any pictures of the kids at Pat's game. Tatum and Kendyl ended up being covered in mud and water. I think Tatum walked through every muddle puddle she could find. By the time the game ended it was 6pm and the kids were starving so I ended up picking up some Happy Meals. Not the most healthy dinner, but they loved it because they got dragon toys and chased each other around the house for an hour playing dragons.

My nephew Kaeden, he is the oldest and does such a good job playing with my kids. Ty thinks he is the coolest person ever, he wants to be just like him.

The sleeping arrangements: Ty, Kenna and Kendyl in sleeping bags and Kaeden in Ty's bed all in Ty's room. It worked great until woke up in the middle of the night screaming. I took him to the doctor this morning and of course the night when his cousins sleepover he gets an ear infection, ugh!

Tatum thought that she was going to sleep with Kenna in our bed. She was a little disappointed when we had to put her in her crib.

four braids and getting along

After Tatum has a bath she usually wants to be cozy with me so I took advantage of her sitting with me and put her hair in four braids. She thought she looked pretty cute!

I love when I see my two kids sitting in close proximity to each other, getting along and not fighting.

a babysitter and a tent

On Thursday Kirsty watched the kids and made a big blanket tent in the middle our living room using EVERY blanket that they could find. They used our tall kitchen chairs on the outside and put one in the middle to hold it up. My kids loved and Ty wanted it to stay like that all night and sleep in it but we were having the Johnston's over to watch the Husky game so Pat had to take it down.

what makes me not happy...

What makes me not happy is when my son who is 3 years and 4 months old poops in his unders four times in one day. Two weeks ago, he was 95% potty trained, now I guess he is just "pee" trained, ugh!!!!!!!!! He tells me that he isn't big enough to poop on the potty even though he was pooping on the potty last week everytime. I am fed up with potty training this little boy!

I guess I have to go back to bribing him every time. I think I am going to make a poo chart and every 7 times or so he can get a prize (from the dollar store!). Anyone have any ideas? Please help!

makes me happy

I love the fact that I am teaching kindergarten now instead of fourth grade. I get to use a lot of what I do with my students with my own kids. I got a new cd for my classroom and I took it home so I can familiarize myself with the cd before I use it with my students and guess who sat there for 45 minutes listening to every song?

I am just as surprised as you are, Ty! He loved the cd. I am so glad and it made me very happy.

In the last month our kindergarten got a new handwriting program, Handwriting Without Tears. I love it because it uses several different ways to teach letter writing. One of the parts is using wood pieces to make the capital letters. Ty loves using the pieces to make letters, words,his name, and shapes.

another weekend

Pat started baseball three weeks ago and the kids sure do miss him coming home at 2:45 (so do I!). When he does come home he gets greeted by two kids yelling, DADDY! He loves it and they bombard him with requests, like reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Tatum wanted to wear her Minnie Mouse hat and she ran around saying, "Princess Tamum."

Some friends from Ty's preschool are having a baby so I made some burp cloths, a taggie blankie and I thought I should make the soon to be big sister something too, so I made her an apron. It has a lot of imperfections, I ran out of the white trim so I had to use red for the strings and then I didn't notice it until I looked at this picture, the pocket is crooked, oh well!

I got some of this style burp cloth when I had Ty and they were my favorite because they fit nicely on your shoulder and didn't fall off. Again, lots of imperfections but it is to be puked on by a baby so I am not to worried.

potpourri

Tatum wore her dress that I made her on Saturday for her cousin Della's first birthday. I got a picture but I forgot to take one with her coat off, oh well. She loves wearing dresses, she said, "Tamum wearing pretty dress, Tamum cute."

We got back from the bday party and the kids wanted to play a little ball. I finally found the other bat, now they both have bats and don't constantly fight over who gets to hit.

I loved the fact that Tatum was wearing a dress and tights and playing a little baseball. She can be a girly girl AND still play sports...my kinda girl!

Ty acts like a lion all of the time. We can be at the park, store, anywhere and Ty will roar at anyone. Sometimes he scares kids when he roars so loud. So today he wanted to dress up like a lion and Tatum wanted her costume on too. Hers is a cute butterfly but she was roaring too.

My parents came to visit and the kids greeted my mom in their costumes.

Ty loves to bake with me and his Grandma Maggie so I thought I should make him an apron. I wanted to make sure that it wasn't too girly so I made his apron out of Husky fabric. I bought fabric to make Tatum's apron but I forgot to by the red thread to go with it.

Can't you tell from his face that he loves his apron? He actually does like it but he didn't want me to take a picture of him, he was in a cranky mood!

friday night with the Neyens family

We went over to my friend Lianna's house on Friday night for dinner. Ty and Xavier had a great time playing together and tormenting Tatum. Lianna and I had a fun time baking cookies. I forgot my camera so if you want to see pics from the evening you can click here.

One of my former volleyball players, Kirsty, has been watching the kids on Thursdays. I was talking to Kirsty about how the day went and she was telling the events of the day and she mentioned that Ty spelled the word "pop." She said he wrote the word and showed it to her and said, "Look, I just wrote the word pop," and proceeded to sound out each letter. She ended up doing more words with him. He would write some and then she wrote words while he would sound them out. So I got home and I asked him to write pop for me, luckily I caught him in a good mood and he wrote if for me.



Then he wrote DAD by sounding out the letters himself. Ty's "A" looks like a squiggly "H" but it is supposed to an "A."

meltdown averted

Grandma Maggie watches the kids on Tuesdays. This Tuesay Ty had a complete meltdown when I was leaving for work and wanted me to stay. I was flattered and annoyed at the same time. I had to pry Ty off me to leave. The only way Grandma Maggie got him to calm down was to promise to call his buddy Riley to see if he could come over. Luckily Cari (our babysitter who has Riley and baby Kayleigh) was available to come over. My kids absolutely love baby Kayleigh and Riley too!
